The songs, even in sparse demo form, captured the plaintive tone of Cottee‰۪s vocals slowly unfurling in emotional waves - the gentleness reminiscent of Spiritualized‰۪s Jason Pierce but with the rich warm resonance of Lee Hazelwood.
