The songs include organ, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003esaxophone, pedal steel, piano, vibraphone, harmonica, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eeven footsteps (Kilgour is renowned for his stepping), \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003emost of it performed by him and his producer \/ collaborator \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eGary Olsen at Olsen’s studio, Marlborough Farms, in \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBrooklyn. Originally conceived as being a children’s book \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eas well as album, it rides roughshod through this fairytale \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eworld with grace. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFinklestein took a year to record, as Kilgour’s\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003einvolvement with a large part of the Brooklyn music scene, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eas well as dates with recent New Zealand Music Hall of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFame inductees The Clean, split his time. His songs benefit \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003efrom this elongated recording period, as each track creates \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eits own space within the album’s world, mixing instruments \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eand melodies in a rainbow of ways.
